Elim Village and Tochtech Completed Full-Site Sleepsense Deployment Across 190+ Beds

Third-phase expansion completes Sleepsense deployment across all Full Care beds in The Harrison at Elim Village Fleetwood

A shared milestone in proactive, non-intrusive and personalized resident care

Elim Village and Tochtech Technologies are proud to announce the completion of the third phase of Sleepsense implementation at Elim Village. With this latest expansion, Sleepsense is now fully deployed across more than 190 Full Care beds in The Harrison at Elim Village Fleetwood.

This milestone represents far more than an increase in installed sensors. It reflects a shared commitment by Elim Village and Tochtech to use intelligent, non-intrusive technology to support safer, more proactive and more personalized resident care.

From a focused pilot to full-site adoption

The partnership between Elim Village and Tochtech began with a pilot in 2021. Elim’s leadership wanted to evaluate whether Sleepsense could help reduce falls and injuries, improve residents’ sleep quality, and give care teams access to information that had previously been difficult to obtain.

Following a successful evaluation, the first phase of implementation began in Elim’s Behavioural Support Transition Neighbourhoods. Sleepsense helped provide staff with timely alerts and objective information about resident bed activity and sleep, while eliminating the noise and disruption associated with conventional bed alarms.

The second phase expanded Sleepsense across The Harrison’s complex-care units. Elim reported benefits including more proactive fall prevention, fewer disruptive nighttime checks and alarms, and greater visibility and efficiency for evening and night staff.

Now, the third phase completes that journey—from pilot, to targeted implementation, to full deployment across more than 190 Full Care beds.

A quiet virtual care team member in every resident room

Sleepsense is a non-wearable, non-camera sensor installed discreetly under one bed leg or wheel. It continuously monitors bed presence, movement, sleep, heart rate and breathing rate—without requiring residents to wear, charge or operate anything.

Powered by AI, Sleepsense acts like a quiet virtual care team member in each resident’s room. It accompanies the resident without being intrusive and informs staff when support may be needed.

Through predictive bed-exit alerts, virtual rounds, health and sleep trends, and resident summaries, Sleepsense helps care teams:

  • Recognize a potential bed exit earlier and intervene before risk escalates.
  • Monitor resident status without unnecessary room entry or sleep disruption.
  • Identify meaningful changes in sleep, movement and nighttime activity.
  • Focus staff attention on residents who may need support.
  • Use objective information to strengthen handovers, resident reviews and care planning.

Sleepsense does not replace staff or clinical judgment. It extends the care team’s visibility and provides better information so staff can apply their expertise sooner and more consistently.

Leadership perspective from Elim Village

“Our journey with Sleepsense began with a focused pilot, giving our team the opportunity to evaluate its impact in a real care environment. As staff experienced the benefits—including earlier awareness of resident needs, fewer disruptive nighttime checks and better information to support care decisions—we expanded the technology in phases. Completing deployment across more than 190 Full Care beds is an important milestone and reflects our commitment to using thoughtful innovation to support resident safety, comfort and quality of life.”

A shared milestone for Elim Village and Tochtech

Elim Village is well known throughout the region for providing an exceptional aging-in-place experience and for ensuring residents can access the appropriate support as their needs change. Its Fleetwood campus offers a continuum of housing and care, from Independent Living through Assisted Living and Full Care.

Completing a full-site Sleepsense deployment is a meaningful shared milestone for Elim Village and Tochtech. It demonstrates what can happen when a care provider and technology partner work together to evaluate innovation carefully, introduce it thoughtfully and expand it based on the experience of residents, staff and leadership.

“This full-site deployment represents the kind of long-term partnership we envisioned when Sleepsense was first piloted at Elim Village. Moving from a focused pilot to more than 190 Full Care beds demonstrates Elim’s leadership and commitment to giving residents safer, less intrusive and more personalized care. We are honoured that Sleepsense has become part of the care environment across The Harrison.”

— Jessica Yang, CEO and Co-Founder, Tochtech Technologies

Setting a new benchmark for technology-enabled care

Full-site deployment creates benefits beyond individual resident rooms. It establishes a more consistent care model across neighbourhoods, gives leaders broader operational visibility, and enables the organization to build technology-supported workflows at scale.

For other care-home leaders, the Elim Village and Tochtech journey offers a practical and achievable model:

1.
Begin with a clearly defined resident-care or operational need.
2.
Evaluate the technology with residents and frontline staff.
3.
Measure its impact on safety, sleep, staff workflows and quality of care.
4.
Expand confidently based on demonstrated value.

What began as a pilot has now become part of the care infrastructure supporting more than 190 residents.
