Fraser Health, CAN Health Network and Tochtech Technologies partnership: Project update

At the end of 2024, we announced our partnership with Fraser Health and CAN Health Network in implementing Toch Sleepsense, a bed exit and sleep monitoring technology at three long term care communities in the BC Lower Mainland, with the aim of reducing falls and enhancing quality of resident care. Read more details on the initiative as published in Fraser Health News.

We are mid-way through the project and want provide an update on the project.

Sleepsense technology benefits as identified by care staff:

  • Preventative fall alerts enable staff to get to residents BEFORE they get off their bed
  • Sleepsense data supports medication changes such as tapering off antipsychotics and adjustments
  • Sleepsense data supports resident-centred care during care conferences
  • Sleep Score information supports resident-centred care and activities

“Working with Tochtech has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Their hands-on approach and unwavering support throughout the project have been invaluable. The impact of Sleepsense in long-term care is already evident, and it’s exciting to witness the positive changes it brings. I can’t wait to see the final outcomes and the positive changes to the standard of care in long-term care as Fraser Health and Tochtech continue working together!” said Kirsten Rossiter, regional practice lead, Research and Knowledge Translation in long-term care, Fraser Health.

This project is due to be completed in July 2025.
